Overview

Catering & Event Sales Manager
Le Méridien Houston Downtown | Houston, Texas

Le Méridien Houston Downtown is looking for an energetic, sales-driven Catering & Event Sales Manager to join our team. This position will focus on generating new business for the hotel’s meeting and event spaces, with a strong emphasis on private events at Z on 23, our rooftop destination overlooking Downtown Houston.

The Role
This is a proactive sales position focused on finding, developing, and closing new business. The ideal candidate enjoys being out in the Houston market, building relationships, prospecting new clients, conducting site tours, and turning opportunities into booked events.

The Catering & Event Sales Manager will be responsible for driving revenue through corporate meetings, social events, receptions, celebrations, happy hours, networking events, private dinners, wedding-related events, and rooftop buyouts.

Key Responsibilities

  - Proactively prospect and generate new catering and event business throughout the Houston market.
  - Drive direct sales for the hotel’s meeting and event spaces and Z on 23 rooftop.
  - Develop relationships with local corporations, businesses, event planners, associations, wedding and social planners, and community organizations.
  - Conduct outside sales calls, networking, client entertainment, site tours, and community outreach.
  - Respond quickly to incoming catering and rooftop leads and convert qualified opportunities into definite business.
  - Create proposals, menus, packages, and event experiences that maximize revenue while meeting client needs.
  - Develop business for corporate happy hours, receptions, networking events, birthdays, celebrations, wedding-related events, and full rooftop buyouts.
  - Identify opportunities to fill need dates and underutilized meeting and event space.
  - Maintain an active prospecting pipeline and consistently follow up on leads and tentative business.
  - Partner closely with the hotel’s Sales, Food & Beverage, Culinary, Revenue, and Operations teams.
  - Participate in weekly sales and revenue strategy discussions and communicate upcoming opportunities.
  - Maintain accurate account, activity, and booking information in the hotel’s sales systems.
  - Meet or exceed established catering and event revenue goals.

Z on 23 Rooftop Sales
A major focus of this role will be growing private-event revenue at Z on 23. The salesperson will actively position the rooftop throughout the Houston market for corporate events, happy hours, social celebrations, receptions, wedding events, VIP experiences, and private buyouts.

Success will require creative prospecting, strong local relationships, consistent follow-up, and the ability to sell the experience—not simply respond to incoming inquiries.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is outgoing, organized, creative, and comfortable owning the entire sales process from prospecting through contract.

We’re especially interested in someone knowledgeable about beverage service, including bottle service and the expectations that come with selling elevated rooftop and nightlife-style events. Experience with beverage-driven events, VIP experiences, happy hours, private parties, and social events is a plus.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who loves sales, enjoys building relationships, isn’t afraid to go after new business, and gets excited about closing the deal.

This is also a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow their career in hotel sales. If you have strong hospitality and beverage experience and want to move into a larger sales role, this position provides the opportunity to learn, develop your sales skills, build your own book of business, and grow with the Sales team.

Why Le Méridien Houston Downtown?
Located in the heart of Downtown Houston, Le Méridien offers a distinctive combination of guestrooms, flexible meeting and event space, culinary experiences, and one of Downtown Houston’s most unique rooftop venues.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a growing segment of the business, build strong relationships throughout the Houston market, and directly impact the growth of the hotel’s catering, meetings, and Z on 23 private-event business.
