Staff Accountant

Opportunity:  Staff Accountant

The Staff accountant assists with the supervision and coordination of the accounting operations in the hotel. Compiles, reviews, reconciles, prepares and analyzes entries to facilitate the bookkeeping function. Assists with the processing of financial statements and other reports in an accurate and timely.

 Essential Job Functions

• Assists in the managing of accounting for capital projects. 
• Assures compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures. 
• Performs required audits, reviews submitted reports and follows up as needed. 
• Monitors status and recommends adjustments to strategies as appropriate. 
• Compiles, in conjunction with the Controller all financial statements covering all activities of the hotel and the maintenance of all budget control procedures. 
• Complete journal entries and bank recs. 
• Prepares monthly financial statements. 
• Assist in preparation of all balance sheet reconciliations. 
• Participates in developing and implementing financial and purchasing strategies which are aligned with the hotel's objectives and internal control practices. 
• Recommends systems and procedures for accurate and orderly reporting of financial matters. 
• Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required. 
• Reports on all areas of non-compliance to standard operating procedures and recommends changes or improvements. 
• Maintains communication between all property departments. 
• Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities: 

• Supervise 1 – 2 associates
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities accordance to organization policies and procedures

Position Requirements

• A year as staff accountant preferred
• Hotel accounting experience required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred.

Work Environment and Context 

• Requires sitting for extended periods, use of hands and fingers to operate computers and keyboards.
