Overview

Opportunity: Vice President of Risk Management

Exciting opportunity to lead the risk department of a fast growing and industry leading hotel management and investment company with over 6,000 associates and 150 hotel properties located across the United States.  Reporting directly to our executive leadership team, the Vice President of Risk Management will manage an existing team of risk professionals and oversee (1) the procurement of property, general liability, workers’ compensation and other relevant insurance lines with national brokerage firms, (2) internal claims management for our high deductible workers’ compensation program and select general liability claims and (3) organization-wide risk management programs, including the implementation of risk compliance and safety strategies. This position is based in our Philadelphia headquarters, but will require travel to our Harrisburg office as part of the transition and integration of the existing risk team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee all operations of the risk department
  • Direct the review and settlement of insurance claims, including self-administered claims 
  • Manage all broker relationships and develop insurance renewal and placement strategies
  • Work closely with the legal department on the tracking and processing of claims 
  • Provide risk management support and guidance to HHM’s portfolio of hotels
  • Mentor and develop a team of risk management professionals
  • Develop, communicate, and monitor company-wide risk management and safety goals and programs, including the ongoing training of associates and vendors on best practices

Position Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience 
  • Strong negotiation skills together with experience evaluating and settling insurance claims 
  • Experience with self-insured and high deductible insurance programs
  • Experience executing insurance renewal programs 
  • Bachelor’s degree 

Work Environment and Context

  • Extensive periods of sitting and keyboard/computer work
  • In-person and phone communication 
  • May on occasion be required to lift packages up to 30 pounds
